This privacy policy applies to Voltahub and explains what data we collect, why, and what choices you have. Voltahub is a free platform: we don't sell products, process payments or ship anything to your home address, so sections about those topics (delivery, payment details) don't apply here.

What data we process

• Account details — your email address, name and an encrypted password, created upon registration.
• Usage and generation data — the data that comes in through the integrations you connect yourself, such as solar panels, smart meters, heat pumps or smart home platforms.
• Location estimate — to show a relevant weather forecast, we use a rough location estimate based on your IP address. We do not request exact browser location permission for this.
• Technical data — IP address, browser type and similar technical information needed to make the website work reliably.
• Customer contact — if you ask us a question, we keep that contact so we can help you.

You don't have to provide any of this data, but without an account and connected integrations you can't use the platform.

Why we use this data

• To show the overview, forecasts and energy advice.
• To manage your account and let you log in.
• To answer questions and solve problems.
• To maintain, secure and improve the platform.
• To send you updates, but only if you explicitly opt in during registration or later. You can unsubscribe from this at any time.

We don't use your data for targeted advertising and we don't sell your usage data to third parties.

How we protect your data

Passwords are stored encrypted, never in readable form. Login details are sent over a secure connection and stored in cookies that scripts on the page cannot read. We limit access to your data to what's needed to make the platform work.

Who we share data with

• Service providers — parties that help us with hosting and sending email. They only process data on our instructions.
• Integrations you connect yourself — when you activate an integration, Voltahub exchanges data with that platform or brand. What that party then does with the data falls under their own privacy policy.
• Legal obligation — if we're legally required to, or to protect ourselves or users against fraud or abuse.

Retention period

Your data stays stored as long as your account is active. If you cancel your account, we delete your personal data, except for what we're legally required to retain for a period.

Cookies

We use functional cookies to keep you logged in. These are necessary for the platform to work and are separate from marketing or advertising purposes. We don't place third-party tracking cookies.

Your rights

• Access to the data we have about you.
• Correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion of your data by cancelling your account.
• Revoking an integration or connection at any time.
• Unsubscribing from updates and marketing messages.

If you're not satisfied with how we use your data, you can file a complaint with the relevant data protection authority. We'd rather hear it from you first, so feel free to get in touch so we can resolve it.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We'll let you know in advance of any significant change.
